WHAT’S SO FUNNY ABOUT CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION?
I was not surprised to find myself laughing in this breakout section, but I was surprised to see how many educators in the room had been teaching for 15, 20 and even 30 years! As an instructor who uses humor as my staple way of teaching, my first thought was: Crap, I don’t have THAT much funny material! Rhonda encouraged us not to “try” and be funny, but to find the funny in reality and highlight it. To mix it up and not tell the same jokes each class. She kept us entertained with her hilarious nursing and teaching experiences and many cartoon slides that I am personally going to goggle for asap. She suggests we take what we know are these women’s fears and talk about it, make light of it. Mom scared of pooping? Talk about it! Laugh about it! Mom worried she won’t know when she is in labor? Ask her if she knows when she is going to start her period… Such subtle cues don’t often go unnoticed, will an eight pound baby getting ready to make an appearance be less apparent? We swapped some comedic material before bustling off to the next general session.

Houses and cars are not cheap and not everybody is able to buy it. Nevertheless, business loans are created to support people in such kind of hard situations.
